Paramaribo Entry Requirements

Paramaribo Entry Requirements

Visa, immigration, and customs information

Important Notice Entry requirements can change at any time. Always verify current requirements with official government sources before traveling.
Information last reviewed June 2024. Always verify with official government sources before traveling.
Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, funnels almost every visitor through Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport. Immigration splits arrivals into visa-free, eVisa, and visa-required queues. Even at peak times you'll rarely stand longer than 30 minutes. Keep a printed return ticket, hotel confirmation for at least the first night, and proof of funds within reach, officers sometimes flick through them. The same port-of-entry rules bind overland travelers from French Guiana or Guyana, so double-check that your paperwork squares with Paramaribo before you climb onto a regional bus or ferry.
